To marry the love of his life, Jean had to prove that he was not previously married while in Europe. This was called a "Temoignage de Liberte de Marriage."

Afterwards, he was able to marry Genevieve Landry at St-Francois, l'Ile D'Orlean.

He died in 1772 in St Louis de Terrebonne.
"In the year one thousand seven hundred and seventy-two, our priest has signed that Jean Larose husband of Genevieve Landry was buried in the cemetery of our parish, his age being around forty four years. He always conducted himself as a good christian."
